THE
DARLING TRUST is a
charitable trust that assists the Swartland communities by empowering
individuals to help themselves, mainly through participation in the sectors of
education, skills development and health.
Darling is a small town on the West Coast of the Cape, 70 kilometres from Cape Town. It is a farming area and 12 minutes from the sea and the fishing village of Yzerfontein. Darling has around 8000 residents. Of these 880 are ‘white’ while the rest are mixed-race coloured and black. Of these nearly 2000 are under the age of 18.
THE
DARLING TRUST is structured in three sections:
- Focus on community needs through the establishment of grassroots projects.
- Focus on arts, culture and customs.
- Focus on health and environment, with the accent on HIV/AIDS.
